Values
Our five values, also known as our “five pillars,” are entrepreneurship, public service, education, community, and coworking.
1. Entrepreneurship
We believe that through triple-bottom entrepreneurship, we are all able to contribute more value to our community and the economy by creating jobs, tax revenue, and through raising the bar for socially responsible business practices.
Many of us adhere to this principle of the “triple-bottom line,” believing that it is our duty and responsibility to create and work for companies that are not only financially profitable, but also improve the health and quality of life of people as well as refrain from making an adverse impact on our environment.
2. Public Service
We celebrate and promote voting, civic involvement, and direct action in our local community, our country and in the world. We think that when we’re in control of our work schedule, it grants us the freedom give back even more in the spirit of the public interest.
3. Education
Ongoing personal development and training is imperative to remain competitive in the new global economy for independents and entrepreneurs. Through interactive lectures, classes, seminars and workshops, hosted by Knoxville Overground, we aim to create an environment that fosters continuous improvement at an affordable price.
4. Community
From potlucks to social networking, our space will provide ongoing opportunities for new friendships and partnerships to develop as well as open spaces where ideas can spread and capture the imagination.
5. Coworking
Together we accomplish more. The benefits of working around fellow professionals far outweigh the cost of working in isolation either out of home or out of a coffee shop.
We strive to explore ways we can provide “all the benefits of working for a corporation without actually working for a corporation” as well as establish workflow systems that empower independents.
